Yeah, say that one three times fast.
While Johan Santana might not have had his best stuff of the year thus far, it was certainly a solid performance by the former Cy Young winner.
Despite hurling fifty pitches in the first two innings, Johan gutted it out through six innings and 115 pitches, 77 of which were strikes. He gave up four hits, walked three, and struck out six over the six innings, lowering his ERA to 3.08 on the year.
The Mets didn't score until the second inning, after David Wright walked, Ike Davis doubled to left, and Gary Matthews, Jr. was intentionally walked. Dodgers starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda through a wild pitch in the dirt that allowed Wright to score and make it 1-0 New York.
In the fourth inning, Jason Bay ended his home run drought, clocking one to center field on a 1-0 count to put the Mets up 2-0.
New York added some insurance runs in the seventh when, with Rod Barajas, the pinch-hitting Jeff Francouer, and Angel Pagan occupying the bases, Luis Castillo singled to center, scoring Barajas and Francouer.
After Johan was lifted from the game, Fernando Nieve and Pedro Feliciano combined for three scoreless innings and one hit (Nieve) to Andre Either.
Pagan, Castillo, Jose Reyes, and Barajas all went 1-4, with Barajas scoring once and Castillo knocking in two.
Jason Bay went 1-3 with his first home run of the year.
Even Johan Santana joined in on the hit parade with a single in the fifth.
David Wright had a solid first game, going 1-3 with a run scored and a stolen base. His average jumped slightly to .227 on the year.
