This isn’t an April Fool’s joke. I swear.
David Wright, the NY Mets third baseman, announced he will be working with the Pirates... Pirate brands, that is. While the timing is sure to catch more than a few baseball fans off-guard, the collaboration between the popular Met and Pirate Brands may prove to be a genuine hit. The Sea Cliff (NY)-based company produces all-natural, trans fat and gluten free snacks that include Pirate’s Booty, Potato Flyers, Smart Puffs and Tings. The company, which was founded in 1987, believes that taste and fun should not have to be ‘snackrificed’ for health. “I first discovered Pirate’s Booty on one of my visits to Energy Kitchen in New York City,” Wright said in a press release distributed by M. Booth & Associates. “Pirate’s Booty Aged White Cheddar was the first flavor I tried, and I was instantly hooked. Then, I read the nutritional label, and it was a no-brainer from there.” The marketing firm will also work in conjunction with Wright’s Foundation to support a healthy development in New York-area children, as well as those in his hometown of Norfolk, VA. The Mets would not immediately comment on Wright’s newfound partnership, though manager Jerry Manuel did breathe a sigh of relief upon hearing that Wright, a four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove winner, will be available for the Opening Day contest against the Florida Marlins. 0 Comments
