2/21 - What Wright Said...
Posted on 21 Feb 2009 by Danielle

(About Manuel's new 80-pitch drill)

"You want to be able to hit and handle the bat when you're tired," third baseman David Wright said Saturday. "He wants to mold and shape us into the team he wants us to be and this is a part of that."

2/20 - What Wright Said...
Posted on 20 Feb 2009 by Danielle

With Spring Training in full force, David Wright quotes are abundant! Here's a few of the things that Wright had to say in the last day or so. Please note, more should be added later in the evening once all of the reporters get back to their (makeshift) offices in Port St. Lucie.

(On Manuel's Opening Address at ST)

"Obviously, you try to get one message through, and that's to win a championship," Wright said. "That was the message that was delivered to us today - that our goal should be nothing short of putting a ring on our finger."

"We should be motivated after what we've been through the last two years," Wright said. "We've failed, we've dealt with a lot of adversity. ... It's a tough way to learn a lesson."

Announcing: WBC/Twitter!
Posted on 19 Feb 2009 by Danielle
So, taking a page from a few blogs around the internet, I've decided to sign up for Twitter in anticipation of the WBC.

While in Miami, I'm going to try to use my cell phone (as well as my laptop) to give post updates on happenings in the WBC. Whether it's workouts, random occurrences, or game coverage, I'll be updating you guys on here as frequently as I can. The updates will appear on the sidebar, just above David's 2008 statistics.

Man, I can't wait to get working on the '09 stats.

Anyway, I know it's a little ways off, but if you'd like to subscribe to us on Twitter in the meantime, you can click on the link below. In the meantime, I'm going to post updates on Twitter when I add special things to the site.

And there is most likely, an Opening Day contest right around the corner! So keep posted!

David Wright has a ridiculous vertical jump
Posted on 18 Feb 2009 by Danielle

David Wright popped into the clubhouse impressed with his results in Wednesday's agility drills conducted by the training staff. Wright had a 34-inch vertical jump, which he playfully described as "Shaq-esque."

He was neck and neck with John Maine for presumptive runner-up when tallying the results of all events, including a 300-yard run.

"It's going to be close with me and Maine," Wright said.

Angel Pagan is expected to blow away everyone.

"If I was betting, I'd bet on him," Wright said.

(Later note from Danielle: Pagan's jump was 37 inches.)

Fundraiser Disclaimer
Posted on 16 Feb 2009 by Danielle

In order to avoid any controversy, I just wanted to further explain the fact that The Wright Stuff is an UNOFFICIAL fan site, meaning we are NOT affiliated with David Wright, The David Wright Foundation, or The New York Mets in any way, shape, or form.

The merchandise's profits are being donated by myself to the David Wright Foundation, as it is only fitting that the beneficiary of any charity movement of TWS be its namesake. The money is not automatically going to the foundation, as I am taking the money that I am making off of it and sending it in a check to them.

I just wanted to clear up any confusion there might be so that there are no problems with anyone or anything at all.
Congratulations, Jose!
Posted on 16 Feb 2009 by Danielle

The Wright Stuff would like to congratulate Jose Reyes and his wife, Katherine, on the birth of their third child, a girl. This makes daughter number three!

There were, at one point, three Reyes's on the Mets... and now there are three little Reyes's around their home. How cute!
WFAN - Boomer and Carton in the Morning (2/16)
Posted on 16 Feb 2009 by Danielle

Okay, I think I've received about fifteen emails so far about this, so I'm going to discuss it on here.

Yes, that was me on Boomer and Carton this morning... I am Danielle from Jersey.

Quisqueya la Bella... haha. That was me. I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. :-)

New Q&A with David Wright
Posted on 15 Feb 2009 by Danielle

The Post's Steve Serby chatted with the three-time All-Star third baseman about the hated Phillies, the Mets' outlook for '09, his stand on steroids and much more.

Q: Cole Hamels saying the Mets choked?

A: It's one of those things where I feel if you talk the talk, you better walk the walk, and he's done that. Those guys (Phillies) are defending champs; as much as I don't like those guys, I respect them. Until we prove we can beat those guys, they can talk all they want.

Q: Why don't you like them?

A: I don't think they like us; in return, we don't like them...
It's here: The fundraiser for the David Wright Foundation!
Posted on 13 Feb 2009 by Danielle

So, with some help from Andrew, I put together a bunch of designs for some shirts via Zazzle. One hundred percent of the profits of shirt sales will go to the David Wright Foundation and I hope to make a check out to them every three months or so. To prove I'm making ZERO money off of this, I will take a photo of each check and post it on here.

Hopefully, we can be as big of a phenomenon as the "Go Big Pelf" shirts were this past year, if not bigger!

Without further ado... here they are!
