Posted on 28 Feb 2009 by Danielle

|
In the next few days, I will be posting some new shirt designs! I'll try and make some more colors available than I have before. In addition, I'm going to do my best to keep the prices down.
So far, our endeavor has collected 50 dollars in profit to be donated to the David Wright Foundation. I have decided that I'm going to hold off on sending in the money until the end of the season and can send in a sizable check to the Foundation. In the meantime, one of our loyal readers, Wendy, has sent in a picture of her rocking The Wright Stuff shirt in the Pink Duo shirt! Thanks, Wendy! ![]() Do you own one of our shirts? Send us a picture and we'll post yours too! If you don't, check out our gallery below or click on it to see the full collection! |

Mets attempt late rally, but fall to Cards in first Spring loss |

The Mets were in action today in Port St. Lucie.
Livan Hernandez was on the mound to start the game. Things were looking good in the 2nd when the Mets scored 3 runs off Cardinals pitcher Todd Wellemeyer. Then Freddy Garcia took the hill... and the wheels came off for the Mets. He only managed two-thirds of an inning and gave up 4 runs in the process. Garcia was awarded the loss as well as a blown save. Casey Fossum pitched two scoreless innings and Conor Robertson pitched a scoreless inning as well. The Mets hitters managed little off Cardinal pitching until late in the game. Bobby Kielty hit a 3 run bomb in the bottom of the 9th off former Met Royce Ring. Alex Cora also had a late game RBI knocking in a run in the 9th. The Mets, however, could not keep their late rally going and fell to the Cardinals 9-8. David Wright was 0-2 with one walk and one strikeout. He left 2 men on base. Wright's average for the spring is still a strong .333 |

The Mets clobbered the Florida Marlins in the first Grapefruit League game of the year, which saw Jerry Manuel's windshield of his Cadillac get cracked by a foul ball.
The Mets allowed just one hit, an infield single by Maybin in the fourth against Dillon Gee, in the first seven innings. Oliver Perez (two), Gee (two), Jon Switzer (one) and Nelson Figueroa (two) were the pitchers. Only Perez and Figueroa allowed walks. Luis Castillo, who led the Mets to a win yesterday, continues to produce for the Mets, going 1-2 with two runs scored on his first inning single and two walks. Carlos Delgado is starting off the season "en fuego," going 2-3 with two runs scored and a walk. Carlos Beltran went 1-4 with a home run off of former Met Willie Collazo in the sixth inning. Daniel Murphy went 1-2 with a walk and an RBI single. Both Ryan Church and Brian Schneider went 1-3. But the day belonged to Jose Reyes, who hit two home runs, one of which was a grand slam. Reyes was 2-4 on the day and knocked in six runners. David Wright started off the Spring Training season on the "Wright" foot, going 2-4 with two singles in the five spot. |

ARTICLE: Stats Have it Wrong On David Wright |
Posted on 26 Feb 2009 by Danielle

You can hear it in David Wright's voice. It kills him to talk about this, about how he seemed to morph from one of baseball's best clutch hitters into someone who couldn't deliver for the Mets when it counted most last season. Part of him surely wants to publicly dismiss his ugly clutch numbers in 2008 as fluky, and indeed his strong career numbers offer proof of what Wright can do under pressure. Still, he knows that won't fly, in part because two straight September collapses by the Mets mean having to grit your teeth and live with the fallout, even being called chokers by Cole Hamels... |

2/23 - What Wright Said... |

Today was a big day for David Wright quotes! (On the World Baseball Classic) "I can't wait," Wright said in an interview on MLB Network. Sizemore is joined in the outfield by Ryan Braun, Curtis Granderson and Brad Hawpe. Mark DeRosa was chosen for a utility role. Brian McCann and Chris Iannetta are the U.S. catchers. "We've got a lot of guys on the team this year that participated in that first World Baseball Classic and obviously they are let down, so we're going to look to those guys to lead the team and prepare us for the expectations going into it because it's a different kind of format," Wright said. "It's a different style of play where obviously every game is huge and one game you could be going home, so we're going to look to those guys to kind of lead us and hopefully the young guys can provide some energy." Credit: MLB.com (On the name leak from the 2003 PED test results) "When you take tests that names are never supposed to come out and that trust is betrayed, that's obviously a concern," David Wright said. "But the union right now is unified about making sure that A, we continue to have a solid drug- testing program, and B, that we do weed out all the cheaters and the guys that try to bend the rules because I think that's important for the fans, MLB and the union." (About Jerry Manuel as manager) "You get the best of both worlds with Jerry," Wright said. "He's a tremendous players' manager, where you feel like you can talk to him about anything. And he's a tremendous motivator, and will push you and really make you reach your potential." Credit: Scout.com |
