The David Wright Foundation

The David Wright Foundation was founded in 2005 by David Wright of the New York Mets. The sole purpose and mission of the foundation is to provide financial support and raise awareness for those in need and to financially support other charitable organizations. The foundation pays special attention to Multiple Sclerosis and children's causes, and maintains its focus on the New York City and Norfolk, Virginia metropolitan areas.

Design

Version 1.1

site

Around the time of Spring Training 2008, I decided to begin creating this site upon my arrival back home. While at Port St. Lucie, I watched David play and it amazed me that someone could be so incredibly talented and conduct himself so professionally, both on and off the field.

I've been following David since his arrival on my beloved New York Mets and have watched as the team has slowly shifted from the Piazza Era of the late 90's and early 2000's to the Wright Era of today. His willingness to lead this team and outstanding offense and defense has endeared him to all Mets fans, including myself.

But it is not only his abilities that astound me, it is his charitable nature. After only being a major leaguer for a year, he created the David Wright Foundation to benefit children in both his new town and his hometown.

And when you look at certain athletes who kick and scream on the playing surface, conduct themselves like wild animals outside of the game, and have no regard for others well into their thirties... finding a twenty-five year old who is such a polar opposite is not only refreshing, but impressive, as well.

My purpose in creating this site was to make a place where all Mets fans, especially David Wright fans, male and female alike, could turn to and find information on such a great player and person.

While this website was hard work, and took over three months, not to mention a lot of moments in which I was ready to throw my computer out the window, to put together, I think that Mets fans, and hopefully all baseball fans, everywhere will enjoy it.

And if one person out there turns to this site as their source for information on David, all of the hard work was worth it.
