David Wright Flight." The plane's name, David's signature, and his

• He is on the cover of MLB 07: The Show.
• David has appeared on MTV's Total Request Live.
• He has been on the Late Show with David Letterman twice.
• He has appeared on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart.
• David made a surprise appearance on The Celebrity Apprentice after
Jennie Finch called in a favor.
• As a kid, he played on an AAU team with Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman
and Tampa Bay Rays CF B.J. Upton, and B.J.'s brother, Arizona Diamondbacks RF Justin Upton.
• Before being drafted to the Mets, Wright had signed a letter of
intent to Georgia Tech.
• David was drafted as the 38th pick of the New York Mets in the
first supplemental round in 2001.
• As a condition to the Mets hiring Lou Pinella to replace the recently-fired
Bobby Valentine, the Mariners wanted David in return. The Mets refused
and took Art Howe instead.
• As part of a team hazing ritual of the rookies, David was once
forced to sing Take Me Out to the Ballgame on the team bus.
• Wright was such a terrific student at Hickory High School that
at his graduation, he was selected as a class speaker.

The David Wright Foundation was founded
in 2005 by David Wright of the New York Mets. The sole purpose and
mission of the foundation is to provide financial support and raise
awareness for those in need and to financially support other charitable
organizations. The foundation pays special attention to Multiple Sclerosis
and children's causes, and maintains its focus on the New York City
and Norfolk, Virginia metropolitan areas.
